Becoming a hairstylist was something that Becky had always wanted to do. She has shadowed four other members of her family in their journeys as stylists and she knew it was the right career for her. LASH EXTENSION QUESTIONS
HOW LONG WILL MY LASH EXTENSIONS LAST?
With proper care, the overall look can last anywhere from 2-4 weeks without very noticeable shedding. These eyelash extensions are semi-permanent so they are not meant to stay on forever. (Although that would be amazing right!) You will need to book refills in order to maintain the overall look.
EXTENSIONS CAUSE MY OWN LASHES TO FALL OUT?
This is a silly myth, the answer no. An eyelash undergoes a three-part growth cycle:
Anagen (Growth) Phase
This is the phase when lashes are actively growing, and it lasts between 30 and 45 days. Only about 40 percent of the upper lashes and 15 percent of the lower lashes are in the anagen phase at any one time. Each lash will grow to a specific length and then stop.
Catagen (Transition) Phase
The catagen phase is also known as the transition phase. During this phase, the lash stops growing and the hair follicle shrinks.
Telogen (Resting) Phase
The Telogen phase is also referred to as the resting phase. This phase can last more than 100 days before the eyelash falls out and a new one begins to grow. Because each individual lash is in its own phase of the growing cycle, it's normal for a few lashes to fall out most days. It typically takes between four and eight weeks to fully replace an eyelash.
Truth is that we are constantly losing our own lashes naturally. Should you find that a couple of your own lashes (with an extension attached) have fallen, this is completely normal. Entrusting a lash artist who is not certified or a licensed Esthetician / Cosmetologist may however be dangerous and you are risking your own health.
WHAT IS A FILL?
A refill is a touch-up and works the same way as when you get your nails done. If you get acrylic nails, you will need to come in after 3 weeks to get a "fill" --same goes for lash extensions. Depending on which lash set you originally purchased, you can choose from 3 different refill packages.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Brush lashes with mascara wand
Do not get them lashes wet for the first 24 hours
Avoid the use of oil-base products on or around the eyelashes
Do not use mascara on the extensions
Be gentle on lash extensions, do not tug or pull
Wash lashes at least 3x a week
